Nova Scotia Health Advanced Practice Lead, Provincial Centre for Training, Education and Learning (PCTEL)

Dr. Jenna Whitney is a Clinical Psychologist and Advanced Practice Lead within Nova Scotia Health’s Provincial Centre for Training, Education and Learning (PCTEL). She completed a PhD in Psychological Medicine (2006) and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (2011), both obtained from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.

 Dr. Whitney returned to Canada and her home province, Nova Scotia, in 2014 and continued to work clinically with people with eating disorders and clients with other presentations. She is a certified member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. She provides clinical training and supervision for psychology residents and psychologists on the candidate registry in NS. She also provides teaching and consultation to clinicians of various disciplines across NS and is involved in service development initiatives through her role in PCTEL. She is new to the Maritime Eating and Appearance Lab and is excited to get involved in research in the Maritimes. Dr. Whitney’s research interests are around treatment for eating disorders, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the involvement of families/supportive others in treatment.
