Effect of a stimulant medication on loss-of-control eating in youth with ADHD

Children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder are at a higher risk of experiencing loss of control eating. Stimulant medications used to treat attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder have been shown to improve symptoms of binge eating in adults and may also function as treatment for loss-of-control eating. Further research is needed to understand whether stimulant medications could be used to treat loss-of-control eating in children. We are conducting this study examine whether existing loss of control eating improves in children when treated with stimulant medication for their existing attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
